wayya‘an ’iyyôḇ wayyō’mar Job 9:1 Then Job answered and said,
’āmənām yāḏa‘ətî ḵî-ḵēn ûmah-yyiṣədaq ’ĕnôš ‘im-’ēl Job 9:2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
’im-yaḥəpōṣ lārîḇ ‘immô lō’-ya‘ănennû ’aḥaṯ minnî-’ālep̱ Job 9:3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
ḥăḵam lēḇāḇ wə’ammîṣ kōaḥ mî-hiqəšāh ’ēlāyw wayyišəlām Job 9:4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
hamma‘ətîq hārîm wəlō’ yāḏā‘û ’ăšer hăp̱āḵām bə’appô Job 9:5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
hammarəgîz ’ereṣ mimməqômāhh wə‘ammûḏeyhā yiṯəp̱allāṣûn Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
hā’ōmēr laḥeres wəlō’ yizərāḥ ûḇə‘aḏ kôḵāḇîm yaḥətōm Job 9:7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
nōṭeh šāmayim ləḇaddô wəḏôrēḵ ‘al-bāmŏṯê yām Job 9:8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
‘ōśeh-‘āš kəsîl wəḵîmāh wəḥaḏərê ṯēmān Job 9:9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
‘ōśeh g̱əḏōlôṯ ‘aḏ-’ên ḥēqer wənip̱əlā’ôṯ ‘aḏ-’ên misəpār Job 9:10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
hēn ya‘ăḇōr ‘ālay wəlō’ ’erə’eh wəyaḥălōp̱ wəlō’-’āḇîn Job 9:11 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
hēn yaḥətōp̱ yəšîḇennû mî-yō’mar ’ēlāyw mah-ta‘ăśeh Job 9:12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
’ĕlôhha lō’-yāšîḇ ’appô taḥətāyw šāḥăḥû ‘ōzərê rāhaḇ Job 9:13 If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
’ap̱ kî-’ānōḵî ’e‘ĕnennû ’eḇəḥărāh ḏəḇāray ‘immô Job 9:14 How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
’ăšer ’im-ṣāḏaqətî lō’ ’e‘ĕneh liməšōp̱əṭî ’eṯəḥannān Job 9:15 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
’im-qārā’ṯî wayya‘ănēnî lō’-’a’ămîn kî-ya’ăzîn qôlî Job 9:16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
’ăšer-biśə‘ārāh yəšûp̱ēnî wəhirəbāh p̱əṣā‘ay ḥinnām Job 9:17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
lō’-yittənēnî hāšēḇ rûḥî yaśəbi‘anî mammərōrîm Job 9:18 He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
’im-ləḵōaḥ ’ammîṣ hinnēh wə’im-ləmišəpāṭ yô‘îḏēnî Job 9:19 If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
’im-’eṣədāq yarəšî‘ēnî tām-’ānî wayya‘əqəšēnî Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
tām-’ānî lō’-’ēḏa‘ nap̱əšî ’emə’as ḥayyāy Job 9:21 Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
’aḥaṯ hî’ ‘al-kēn ’āmarətî tām wərāšā‘ hû’ məḵalleh Job 9:22 This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
’im-šôṭ yāmîṯ piṯə’ōm ləmassaṯ nəqiyyim yilə‘āg̱ Job 9:23 If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
’ereṣ nittənāh ḇəyaḏ-rāšā‘ pənê-šōp̱əṭeyhā yəḵasseh ’im-lō’ ’ēp̱ô’ mî-hû’ Job 9:24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
wəyāmay qallû minnî-rāṣ bārəḥû lō’-rā’û ṭôḇāh Job 9:25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
ḥāləp̱û ‘im-’ŏniyyôṯ ’ēḇeh kənešer yāṭûś ‘ălê-’ōḵel Job 9:26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
’im-’āmərî ’ešəkəḥāh śîḥî ’e‘ezəḇāh p̱ānay wə’aḇəlîg̱āh Job 9:27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
yāg̱ōrətî ḵāl-‘aṣṣəḇōṯāy yāḏa‘ətî kî-lō’ ṯənaqqēnî Job 9:28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
’ānōḵî ’erəšā‘ lāmmāh-zzeh heḇel ’îg̱ā‘ Job 9:29 If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
’im-hiṯərāḥaṣətî ḇəmê-šāleg̱ wahăzikkôṯî bəḇōr kappāy Job 9:30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
’āz baššaḥaṯ tiṭəbəlēnî wəṯi‘ăḇûnî śaləmôṯāy Job 9:31 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
kî-lō’-’îš kāmōnî ’e‘ĕnennû nāḇô’ yaḥədāw bammišəpāṭ Job 9:32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
lō’ yēš-bênênû môḵîaḥ yāšēṯ yāḏô ‘al-šənênû Job 9:33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
yāsēr mē‘ālay šiḇəṭô wə’ēmāṯô ’al-təḇa‘ăṯannî Job 9:34 Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
’aḏabbərāh wəlō’ ’îrā’ennû lō’-ḵēn ’ānōḵî ‘immāḏî Job 9:35 Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
