Gen 32:1 [KJV 31:55] And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.

Gen 32:2 [KJV 32:1] And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

wayyō’mer ya‘ăqōḇ ka’ăšer rā’ām maḥănēh ’ĕlōhîm zeh wayyiqərā’ šēm-hammāqôm hahû’ maḥănāyim

Gen 32:3 [KJV 32:2] And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

wayyišəlaḥ ya‘ăqōḇ malə’āḵîm ləp̱ānāyw ’el-‘ēśāw ’āḥîw ’arəṣāh śē‘îr śəḏēh ’ĕḏôm

Gen 32:4 [KJV 32:3] And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

wayəṣaw ’ōṯām lē’mōr kōh ṯō’mərûn la’ḏōnî lə‘ēśāw kōh ’āmar ‘aḇədəḵā ya‘ăqōḇ ‘im-lāḇān garətî wā’ēḥar ‘aḏ-‘āttāh

Gen 32:5 [KJV 32:4] And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

wayəhî-lî šôr waḥămôr ṣō’n wə‘eḇeḏ wəšip̱əḥāh wā’ešələḥāh ləhaggîḏ la’ḏōnî liməṣō’-ḥēn bə‘êneyḵā

Gen 32:6 [KJV 32:5] And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.

wayyāšuḇû hammalə’āḵîm ’el-ya‘ăqōḇ lē’mōr bā’nû ’el-’āḥîḵā ’el-‘ēśāw wəg̱am hōlēḵ liqərā’ṯəḵā wə’arəba‘-mē’ôṯ ’îš ‘immô

Gen 32:7 [KJV 32:6] And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

wayyîrā’ ya‘ăqōḇ mə’ōḏ wayyēṣer lô wayyaḥaṣ ’eṯ-hā‘ām ’ăšer-’ittô wə’eṯ-haṣṣō’n wə’eṯ-habbāqār wəhaggəmallîm lišənê maḥănôṯ

Gen 32:8 [KJV 32:7] Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

wayyō’mer ’im-yāḇô’ ‘ēśāw ’el-hammaḥăneh hā’aḥaṯ wəhikkāhû wəhāyāh hammaḥăneh hannišə’ār lip̱əlêṭāh

Gen 32:9 [KJV 32:8] And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

wayyō’mer ya‘ăqōḇ ’ĕlōhê ’āḇî ’aḇərāhām wē’lōhê ’āḇî yiṣəḥāq yəhwāh hā’ōmēr ’ēlay šûḇ lə’arəṣəḵā ûləmôlaḏətəḵā wə’êṭîḇāh ‘immāḵ

Gen 32:10 [KJV 32:9] And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

qāṭōnətî mikkōl haḥăsāḏîm ûmikkāl-hā’ĕmeṯ ’ăšer ‘āśîṯā ’eṯ-‘aḇədeḵā kî ḇəmaqəlî ‘āḇarətî ’eṯ-hayyarədēn hazzeh wə‘attāh hāyîṯî lišənê maḥănôṯ

Gen 32:11 [KJV 32:10] I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

haṣṣîlēnî nā’ miyyaḏ ’āḥî miyyaḏ ‘ēśāw kî-yārē’ ’ānōḵî ’ōṯô pen-yāḇô’ wəhikkanî ’ēm ‘al-bānîm

Gen 32:12 [KJV 32:11] Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

wə’attāh ’āmarətā hêṭēḇ ’êṭîḇ ‘immāḵ wəśamətî ’eṯ-zarə‘ăḵā kəḥôl hayyām ’ăšer lō’-yissāp̱ēr mērōḇ

Gen 32:13 [KJV 32:12] And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

wayyālen šām ballayəlāh hahû’ wayyiqqaḥ min-habbā’ ḇəyāḏô minəḥāh lə‘ēśāw ’āḥîw

Gen 32:14 [KJV 32:13] And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;

‘izzîm mā’ṯayim ûṯəyāšîm ‘eśərîm rəḥēlîm mā’ṯayim wə’êlîm ‘eśərîm

Gen 32:15 [KJV 32:14] Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,

gəmallîm mênîqôṯ ûḇənêhem šəlōšîm pārôṯ ’arəbā‘îm ûp̱ārîm ‘ăśārāh ’ăṯōnōṯ ‘eśərîm wa‘əyārim ‘ăśārāh

Gen 32:16 [KJV 32:15] Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.

wayyittēn bəyaḏ-‘ăḇāḏāyw ‘ēḏer ‘ēḏer ləḇaddô wayyō’mer ’el-‘ăḇāḏāyw ‘iḇərû ləp̱ānay wərewaḥ tāśîmû bên ‘ēḏer ûḇên ‘ēḏer

Gen 32:17 [KJV 32:16] And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

wayəṣaw ’eṯ-hāri’šôn lē’mōr kî yip̱əgāšəḵā ‘ēśāw ’āḥî wišə’ēləḵā lē’mōr ləmî-’attāh wə’ānāh ṯēlēḵ ûləmî ’ēlleh ləp̱āneyḵā

Gen 32:18 [KJV 32:17] And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?

wə’āmarətā lə‘aḇədəḵā ləya‘ăqōḇ minəḥāh hiw’ šəlûḥāh la’ḏōnî lə‘ēśāw wəhinnēh g̱am-hû’ ’aḥărênû

Gen 32:19 [KJV 32:18] Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

wayəṣaw gam ’eṯ-haššēnî gam ’eṯ-haššəlîšî gam ’eṯ-kāl-hahōləḵîm ’aḥărê hā‘ăḏārîm lē’mōr kaddāḇār hazzeh təḏabbərûn ’el-‘ēśāw bəmōṣa’ăḵem ’ōṯô

Gen 32:20 [KJV 32:19] And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.

wa’ămarətem gam hinnēh ‘aḇədəḵā ya‘ăqōḇ ’aḥărênû kî-’āmar ’ăḵappərāh p̱ānāyw bamminəḥāh hahōleḵeṯ ləp̱ānāy wə’aḥărê-ḵēn ’erə’eh p̱ānāyw ’ûlay yiśśā’ p̱ānāy

Gen 32:21 [KJV 32:20] And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

watta‘ăḇōr hamminəḥāh ‘al-pānāyw wəhû’ lān ballayəlāh-hahû’ bammaḥăneh

Gen 32:22 [KJV 32:21] So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.

wayyāqām ballayəlāh hû’ wayyiqqaḥ ’eṯ-šətê nāšāyw wə’eṯ-šətê šip̱əḥōṯāyw wə’eṯ-’aḥaḏ ‘āśār yəlāḏāyw wayya‘ăḇōr ’ēṯ ma‘ăḇar yabbōq

Gen 32:23 [KJV 32:22] And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

wayyiqqāḥēm wayya‘ăḇirēm ’eṯ-hannāḥal wayya‘ăḇēr ’eṯ-’ăšer-lô

Gen 32:24 [KJV 32:23] And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

wayyiwwāṯēr ya‘ăqōḇ ləḇaddô wayyē’āḇēq ’îš ‘immô ‘aḏ ‘ălôṯ haššāḥar

Gen 32:25 [KJV 32:24] And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

wayyarə’ kî lō’ yāḵōl lô wayyigga‘ bəḵap̱-yərēḵô wattēqa‘ kap̱-yereḵ ya‘ăqōḇ bəhē’āḇəqô ‘immô

Gen 32:26 [KJV 32:25] And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

wayyō’mer šalləḥēnî kî ‘ālāh haššāḥar wayyō’mer lō’ ’ăšallēḥăḵā kî ’im-bēraḵətānî

Gen 32:27 [KJV 32:26] And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

wayyō’mer ’ēlāyw mah-ššəmeḵā wayyō’mer ya‘ăqōḇ

Gen 32:28 [KJV 32:27] And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

wayyō’mer lō’ ya‘ăqōḇ yē’āmēr ‘ôḏ šiməḵā kî ’im-yiśərā’ēl kî-śārîṯā ‘im-’ĕlōhîm wə‘im-’ănāšîm wattûḵāl

Gen 32:29 [KJV 32:28] And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

wayyišə’al ya‘ăqōḇ wayyō’mer haggîḏāh-nnā’ šəmeḵā wayyō’mer lāmmāh zzeh tišə’al lišəmî wayəḇāreḵ ’ōṯô šām

Gen 32:30 [KJV 32:29] And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

wayyiqərā’ ya‘ăqōḇ šēm hammāqôm pənî’ēl kî-rā’îṯî ’ĕlōhîm pānîm ’el-pānîm wattinnāṣēl nap̱əšî

Gen 32:31 [KJV 32:30] And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

wayyizəraḥ-lô haššemeš ka’ăšer ‘āḇar ’eṯ-pənû’ēl wəhû’ ṣōlēa‘ ‘al-yərēḵô

Gen 32:32 [KJV 32:31] And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

‘al-kēn lō’-yō’ḵəlû ḇənê-yiśərā’ēl ’eṯ-gîḏ hannāšeh ’ăšer ‘al-kap̱ hayyārēḵ ‘aḏ hayyôm hazzeh kî nāg̱a‘ bəḵap̱-yereḵ ya‘ăqōḇ bəg̱îḏ hannāšeh

Gen 32:33 [KJV 32:32] Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
