| ושלמה היה מושל בכל־הממלכות מן־הנהר ארץ פלשתים ועד גבול מצרים מגשים מנחה ועבדים את־שלמה כל־ימי חייו׃ | 1Kgs 5:1 [KJV 4:21] And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life. |
| ויהי לחם־שלמה ליום אחד שלשים כר סלת וששים כר קמח׃ | 1Kgs 5:2 [KJV 4:22] And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal, |
| עשרה בקר בראים ועשרים בקר רעי ומאה צאן לבד מאיל וצבי ויחמור וברברים אבוסים׃ | 1Kgs 5:3 [KJV 4:23] Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. |
| כי־הוא רדה׀ בכל־עבר הנהר מתפסח ועד־עזה בכל־מלכי עבר הנהר ושלום היה לו מכל־עבריו מסביב׃ | 1Kgs 5:4 [KJV 4:24] For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. |
| וישב יהודה וישראל לבטח איש תחת גפנו ותחת תאנתו מדן ועד־באר שבע כל ימי שלמה׃ | 1Kgs 5:5 [KJV 4:25] And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. |
| ויהי לשלמה ארבעים אלף ארות סוסים למרכבו ושנים־עשר אלף פרשים׃ | 1Kgs 5:6 [KJV 4:26] And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. |
| וכלכלו הנצבים האלה את־המלך שלמה ואת כל־הקרב אל־שלחן המלך־שלמה איש חדשו לא יעדרו דבר׃ | 1Kgs 5:7 [KJV 4:27] And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing. |
| והשערים והתבן לסוסים ולרכש יבאו אל־המקום אשר יהיה־שם איש כמשפטו׃ | 1Kgs 5:8 [KJV 4:28] Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge. |
| ויתן אלהים חכמה לשלמה ותבונה הרבה מאד ורחב לב כחול אשר על־שפת הים׃ | 1Kgs 5:9 [KJV 4:29] And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. |
| ותרב חכמת שלמה מחכמת כל־בני־קדם ומכל חכמת מצרים׃ | 1Kgs 5:10 [KJV 4:30] And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. |
| ויחכם מכל־האדם מאיתן האזרחי והימן וכלכל ודרדע בני מחול ויהי־שמו בכל־הגוים סביב׃ | 1Kgs 5:11 [KJV 4:31] For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. |
| וידבר שלשת אלפים משל ויהי שירו חמשה ואלף׃ | 1Kgs 5:12 [KJV 4:32] And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. |
| וידבר על־העצים מן־הארז אשר בלבנון ועד האזוב אשר יצא בקיר וידבר על־הבהמה ועל־העוף ועל־הרמש ועל־הדגים׃ | 1Kgs 5:13 [KJV 4:33] And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. |
| ויבאו מכל־העמים לשמע את חכמת שלמה מאת כל־מלכי הארץ אשר שמעו את־חכמתו׃ | 1Kgs 5:14 [KJV 4:34] And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom. |
| וישלח חירם מלך־צור את־עבדיו אל־שלמה כי שמע כי אתו משחו למלך תחת אביהו כי אהב היה חירם לדוד כל־הימים׃ | 1Kgs 5:15 [KJV 5:1] And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. |
| וישלח שלמה אל־חירם לאמר׃ | 1Kgs 5:16 [KJV 5:2] And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, |
| אתה ידעת את־דוד אבי כי לא יכל לבנות בית לשם יהוה אלהיו מפני המלחמה אשר סבבהו עד תת־יהוה אתם תחת כפות רגלי׃ | 1Kgs 5:17 [KJV 5:3] Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet. |
| ועתה הניח יהוה אלהי לי מסביב אין שטן ואין פגע רע׃ | 1Kgs 5:18 [KJV 5:4] But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. |
| והנני אמר לבנות בית לשם יהוה אלהי כאשר׀ דבר יהוה אל־דוד אבי לאמר בנך אשר אתן תחתיך על־כסאך הוא־יבנה הבית לשמי׃ | 1Kgs 5:19 [KJV 5:5] And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. |
| ועתה צוה ויכרתו־לי ארזים מן־הלבנון ועבדי יהיו עם־עבדיך ושכר עבדיך אתן לך ככל אשר תאמר כי׀ אתה ידעת כי אין בנו איש ידע לכרת־עצים כצדנים׃ | 1Kgs 5:20 [KJV 5:6] Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians. |
| ויהי כשמע חירם את־דברי שלמה וישמח מאד ויאמר ברוך יהוה היום אשר נתן לדוד בן חכם על־העם הרב הזה׃ | 1Kgs 5:21 [KJV 5:7] And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. |
| וישלח חירם אל־שלמה לאמר שמעתי את אשר־שלחת אלי אני אעשה את־כל־חפצך בעצי ארזים ובעצי ברושים׃ | 1Kgs 5:22 [KJV 5:8] And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. |
| עבדי ירדו מן־הלבנון ימה ואני אשימם דברות בים עד־המקום אשר־תשלח אלי ונפצתים שם ואתה תשא ואתה תעשה את־חפצי לתת לחם ביתי׃ | 1Kgs 5:23 [KJV 5:9] My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household. |
| ויהי חירום נתן לשלמה עצי ארזים ועצי ברושים כל־חפצו׃ | 1Kgs 5:24 [KJV 5:10] So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire. |
| ושלמה נתן לחירם עשרים אלף כר חטים מכלת לביתו ועשרים כר שמן כתית כה־יתן שלמה לחירם שנה בשנה׃ | 1Kgs 5:25 [KJV 5:11] And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. |
| ויהוה נתן חכמה לשלמה כאשר דבר־לו ויהי שלם בין חירם ובין שלמה ויכרתו ברית שניהם׃ | 1Kgs 5:26 [KJV 5:12] And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together. |
| ויעל המלך שלמה מס מכל־ישראל ויהי המס שלשים אלף איש׃ | 1Kgs 5:27 [KJV 5:13] And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men. |
| וישלחם לבנונה עשרת אלפים בחדש חליפות חדש יהיו בלבנון שנים חדשים בביתו ואדנירם על־המס׃ | 1Kgs 5:28 [KJV 5:14] And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy. |
| ויהי לשלמה שבעים אלף נשא סבל ושמנים אלף חצב בהר׃ | 1Kgs 5:29 [KJV 5:15] And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains; |
| לבד משרי הנצבים לשלמה אשר על־המלאכה שלשת אלפים ושלש מאות הרדים בעם העשים במלאכה׃ | 1Kgs 5:30 [KJV 5:16] Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work. |
| ויצו המלך ויסעו אבנים גדלות אבנים יקרות ליסד הבית אבני גזית׃ | 1Kgs 5:31 [KJV 5:17] And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. |
| ויפסלו בני שלמה ובני חירום והגבלים ויכינו העצים והאבנים לבנות הבית׃ | 1Kgs 5:32 [KJV 5:18] And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house. |
